Indonesian goalkeeper dies after collision with team-mate

Image
Indonesian Football fans are mourning the loss of Choirul Huda, the goalkeeper, and captain of Lamongan FC, usually known as Persela, following a collision with a teammate during a weekend competition. Video footage showed Huda crashing into teammate Ramon Rodrigues in the 43rd minute of a game in the Go-Jek Traveloka league. It seemed Rodrigues' knee had accidentally hit with Huda's chest in the event, said the club's communications officer. The 38-year-old was taken to hospital in exhaustive attention and given breathing aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, however, his condition worsened and he was pronounced dead at 4.45 pm. Premier League 2017/18 Prediction

We are now 8 games deep into the tournament and I would like to take a moment to predict the table come the end of the season. 1. Manchester City 2. Manchester United 3. Chelsea 4. Tottenham 5. Liverpool 6. Arsenal 7. Everton 8. Southampton 9. Watford 10. Burnley 11. West Ham 12. West Brom 13. Newcastle United 14. Stoke City 15. Brighton 16. Leicester City 17. Huddersfield 18. Swansea City 19. Bournemouth 20. Crystal Palace Manchester City are proving to be far stronger in comparison to every other team, however I believe it'll be a tight title race between the Citizens and Manchester United. I believe that both Liverpool and Arsenal will miss out on the top 4 as Liverpools' defensive woes will continue to be an issue throughout the season, and Arsenals' big money players look unhappy, while they continue to underperform. Watford and Burnley could be the surprise packages this season, especially if they play the attractive football that they have been...

Dortmund loses against RB Leipzig

Image
Dortmund has taken its first loss in this season of the Bundesliga. Defeated in the previous 7 games, the lost 3-2 against RB Leizpig, last year runner up that is heavily sponsored by an energy drink company with the same initials. In a spectacular game in front of their home crowd, they not only lost the first time in this season, but also their winning streak at home that lasted for 41 consecutive games. As Dortmund fans have protested against the RB Leipzig policy of receiving huge pay offs from their sponsor, this defeat is an evern bitterer pill to swallow. John Harms 16/10/2017

Why does the Australian soccer team compete in the Asia and is a member of AFC?

Image
The Australian national team is currently a member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).Australia is the only national team to have been a winner of two confederations, holding the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) four times between 1980 and 2004, as well as the AFC Asian Cup at the 2015 competitions.  Image taken from Wikipedia (2017)  Now there is a question why Australia is now a member of Asian Football Confederation (AFC) rather than (OFC) and how is that possible? Countries can cross between continental confederations if they obtain the approval from the confederation they are contemplating to join and the Fifa Executive commission. The Oceania members were struggling for many years because Australia was too powerful in (OFC) and blocked the way of the other 11 nations. meanwhile for Australia is also beneficial to join AFC for these 3 simple reasons: 1. Better chance of qualification because the winner of (OFC) has only 'half a place' in ...

Massive Upset at Selhurst Park

Image
Crystal Palace 2 - 1 Chelsea. The biggest upset of the season by a long shot has happened overnight, as Crystal Palace (who haven't managed a goal this season) defeated last years' champions. Chelsea looked far from their best as Wilfred Zaha returned from injury for Palace and played a vital role in their win. Crystal Palace surprisingly dominated in large patches of the game, and created 2 massive chances to score. Chelsea defender Cezar Aspilicueta, who has been one of the defenders of the season thus far, chested the ball over his own line early on. Only 7 minutes later, Bakayoko headed home a corner delivered by Cesc Fabregas, and there was a feeling that this would be a turning point and Chelsea would ultimately go on to win the match. However the deciding goal came in the 45th minute, when Sakho played through Zaha who was one on one with Courtois, and made no mistake dispatching his first Premier League goal of the season, and the first goal from a Palace player. ...

Without the Netherlands...

Image
© Peter Dejong/AP/dpa Nobody can believe it, yet it has happened. The Netherlands haven't qualified for the World Championship 2018 in Russia. Although Robben scored in a 2:0 win against Sweden, the Netherlands performance wasn't enough to qualifiy. They would have needed a goal difference of 7 points to qualify. Starplayer Arjen Robben announced his retirement from the dutch national team in order to fully concentrate on his career at Bayern Munich. It was quite clear that he would take these steps considering his ages and the possibility of playing another big international cup would be the EM2020. Robben would be 36 by then, which even for him is probably to old. 14/11/2017 John Harms

Introduction of Soccer Rules - Part 4

Image
Continue with the Introduction of Rule... Fouls and Punishment The common rule of thumb on fouls is “If it looks like a foul, it probably is.”. Some soccer rules are actually not black-and-white. The normal consequence of a foul is a direct kick for the opposing team. Punishment is given in soccer with yellow and red cards. The FIFA soccer rules give the guidelines for when to give a yellow card and red card to a player. If a player is given two yellow cards in the same game, that is equal to a red card. A red card can be given at any time without the player first receiving a yellow card. When a player gets a red card, they must leave the game and their team must play short. Offside The first thing to know is that you cannot be offside on a corner kick, goal kick, or throw-in. It’s not an offense for a player to be in an offside position. The player must be involved in active play as determined by the referee to be called offside. -    ...

Introduction of Soccer Rules - Part 3

Continue with the Introduction of Rule... Direct & indirect Free Kicks Direct and indirect kicks are two primary ways that play is restarted after the referee stops play for an infraction. In both situations, the ball must be stationary before it is kicked and the opposing players should be a minimum of 10 yards away. The 10-yard allowance is often reduced for the smaller age groups and is left up to the discretion of the referee. The simple difference between the two is this: On a direct kick you can score by kicking the ball directly into the goal. On an indirect kick you cannot score - An indirect kick must be touched by another player before it can go into the goal – that is the kicker and a second person. Penalty Kick It occurred from a contact foul or hand ball by the defending team within the penalty area. it’s a type of direct kick also. All players must remain outside the penalty area and the penalty arc until the ball is kicked. The goalkeeper mu...

Super Timmy the Difference Against Syria

Image
Australia hosted Syria in a knockout world cup qualifier last night, and Timmy Cahill proved the difference yet again, rescuing a declining Australia team from an embarrassing upset at the Allianz stadium. The tie was all locked up after 90 minutes, forcing the game into extra time. The turning point in extra time came when Mahmoud Almawas was sent off by the referee. Tim Cahilll proved to be the difference in the two teams scoring his second goal deep into the second half of extra time, giving Australia a 2-1 win and still a chance of making the 2018 World Cup. Introduction of Soccer Rules - Part 2

Image
Continue with the Introduction of Rule... Start and Restart A kick-off is the way a soccer game is started or restarted: -            at the start of a game -            after a goal has been scored -            at the start of the second half (or each quarter in younger ages) -            at the start of each period of extra time, if used Throw-ins A throw-in is taken when the ball crosses a sideline and leaves the field. The two basic soccer rules for a proper throw-in are to have both feet on the ground and to throw the ball with both hands over the head. Corner Kicks & Goal Kicks A corner kick or goal kick is taken when the ball leaves the field across a goal line – you know, either end of the field with a goal. If the offensive team kicks it out, p...

Germany wins against Aserbaidschan

Image
The german team finished their world championship with a collossal 5:1  win over Aserbaidschan. As we have posted before, the team already qualified by beating Northern Ireland in the last game. Two of the 5 goals were scored by Leon Goretzka, a 22-year old youngster ploaying for Schalke in the Bundesliga, in the 8th and 66th minute. Sandro Wagner is making his mark as a consistent scorer with yet another goal in the 54th minute. Antonio Ruediger and Emre Can put the finishing touches on the almost flawless 5:1 victory. However, the first half of the game was far from perfect, as Sandro Wagner resumes. In his opinion, the team seemed unconcentrated and uncoordinated, however in the second half they came back strong a scored a couple of nice goals. Team Coach Jogi Loew views his teams performance similarily. A first half that was unstructured and had many unprecise passes, wrong runs and unfortunate positional play. They turned it around in the second half and did a great effort....

Your guide to the Primera Divison (La Liga)

Image
The Primera Division (La Liga) Image taken from Wikipedia (2017)  The La Liga was formed in April 1927 and is Spain's (men's) professional football (soccer) league. Similar to the EPL, the La Liga is made up of 20 clubs; these clubs change every year through a system of promotion and relegation with the Segunda Division (2nd div). This is slightly different to the EPL; [in the La Liga] the bottom 3 teams are replaced by the two top teams [of Segunda div] and the winner of a play-off between the third, fourth, fifth and six placed teams [of Segunda div]. Like the EPL, the fixtures for the season see each club play 38 matches, where they play each club twice (once at home and once away). Teams receive 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss. Furthermore, teams are ranked by total points, with the highest-ranked club at the end of the season crowned the champion of the league. A total of 60 clubs have competed in La Liga since its formation in 1927...
