The Bundesliga was founded 54 years ago in 1963 and is Germany's professional association football league. Similar to the EPL and La Liga. The Bundesliga comprises of 18 teams that operate on a system of promotion and relegation with the 2nd div, called 2 Bundesliga. A total of 52 clubs have competed in the Bundesliga since its foundation. Similarly, teams are awarded 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss. The team with the most points at the end of the Season is the champion. FC Bayern Munich have won the Bundesliga 26 times (out of 52 seasons) and are the team to beat. FC Bayern Munich are also the 2016/17 champions. Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach have won 5 times each and Werder Breman has won 3 times.

The Bundesliga has the highest average stadium attendance in the world with a total of around 45,000 fans per game (on average). The only other sports league that does better is the National Football League in the United States. Furthermore, the Bundesliga is broadcast on TV across over 200 countries. Borussia Dortmund is the best supported club with the greatest crowd average of around 80,000 people. Furthermore, the club is renowned world wide for their passionate supporters (as shown in the video below). 


The 2017/18 season begun on Sat 19th August with FC Bayern Munich taking on Bayern Leverkusen at Allianz Arena (Munich home) where they won 3-1.
