Get to know the Soccer Positions

Soccer (football) are associated with a lot of different positions varied with different roles and skills that each player has, and also the tactics of the match.

Each position has their own different task and categorize into four parts: the goalkeeper, defenders, midfielders and forward.

Tasks for each position:
  • Goalkeeper (GK)
It basically is the guy with gloves who defend the goal, keeps the opponents from scoring, and he would be the only person who can play the ball with hands.
  • Defenders
Defenders are players whose job is to protect and keep the ball away from the goalkeeper, prevent the opponents from passing. They need to be quick at anticipating opponents’ movement. Typically has 4 defenders in a team
  • Midfielders


Midfielders connects the offense and the defense. They bring the ball up to the forwards and prevent the ball passing to the defenders, also helps the forwards to score.
  • Forwards


The most famous player in the team as they are usually the one who score goals. They need to be able to strain when their teammates pass them the ball.
